It's perfect for me

For some reason I have a soft spot for 'make everything from scratch' for of things. It's so satisfying to see how you slowly improve something from the group up. And Dr Stone scratched this itch for me.

Plot Summary

A sudden flash of light turns every human on Earth to stone. After thousands of years, Senku, a teenage prodigy, wakes up from the slumber. But everything is in shambles, there are no tools, no resources, no infrastructure . He has to make it all from scratch. But he's not alone, he manages to break free few of his friends, so he's not alone in his adventure. Senku's end goal is to rebuild the civilization, and figure out the why of that flash of light

The Story Loop

The story is quite formulaic

  • Senku tries to make a new invention
  • He needs some resources or tools
  • He gathers / makes them
  • So Senku progresses further and makes even crazier and more innovative thingies But I don't mind this at all, beause it leads to the best part of the show - the explanations.

The Explanations

Senku explains exactly how everything works. Every step he has to take and why. And everything is 99% accurate. There's a lot of videos on YouTube explaining how accurate the show is. It's so unusual for a show to be accurate. Even more so, for an anime. I'm not a chemistry or biology or physics sort of guy, so most of what Senku says goes well over my head. But I feel that I learn quite a lot by watching Dr Stone.

Story

It's okay. There's a villain and the main character needs to onvernt new stuff to get an upper hand against him. Sounds very familiar to many other shows. But when I watched Dr STone, I didn't care all that much about the overarching plot. I was more invested on in watching wehat Senku is building in the current episode, rather than what is going to happen. when Senku goes against the villain.

Season 2

Season 2 was okay. There were a few episodes here and there, where Senku and his friends had to invent some stuff, but this season's main focus was to default the villain, what Season 1 was leading up to. So this season wasn't but , but it lacked what hooked me into the - science-y thingies.

Sumary

If you're DYU of Minecraft sort of guy, you can't go wrong watching this show.
